An Act Of Kindess | Accepting Kindness & Positivity

An Act of Kindness

As I was finding my seat on the train on the way to work I was practically on the verge of tears. I’ve been having a rough couple of weeks and dealing with a lot of emotion. When suddenly out of nowhere a man approached me and said he had a question for me that “might come across as weird”.

He asked me if I was having any pain in my ankle. Considering I have a sprained ankle, my initial reaction to this was, oh he must be a doctor. I replied and said no pain, just discomfort. He then asked me if he could pray over my ankle. While I was a little shocked I decided to be open minded and knowing that it couldn’t hurt, I said sure.

Acts Of Kindness

He sat down, extended his arm hovering his hand over my ankle and began to pray. He said a short prayer to Jesus asking for the healing of my ankle. Then he asked me how it felt. I said it was hard to say with the ankle brace. He then prayed two more times over it until I said it was feeling much better… which it was. Without using my crutches, I stood up and walked around a little bit. I was surprised as it has been hard to walk without my crutches just minutes before. Although I was limping, I was much more mobile. Whether this was psychological, or miracle… I couldn’t say. I simply thanked him, and he wished me a good day and said Jesus loves you, god bless. Baffled. Never have I experienced anything of the like before.

While I am not Catholic, I found this experience to be very meaningful. I whole heartedly believe that everything happens for a reason. What the reason was for this, I am still not exactly sure. But I think there is one lesson that can be taken away. In the midst of difficult times, hardships, or feelings of giving up, there is always room for positivity. Whether it is motivated from within, or from a stranger on the train; positivity can come from just about anywhere. I could have easily written him off, but I didn’t. With an open mind, you can have the power to do the same. Let positivity in your life everyday. Accept acts of kindness and be kind to others. You will be surprised at what the universe will bring you in return.
